Is this a real IQ test?+
It's a carefully built reasoning test covering the same kinds of skill IQ tests cover. You get your results across six skills, not an IQ-style score. That score needs a comparison with the general public, and we're still building one. It isn't a supervised clinical test like the WAIS, and no online test is.
Why don't I see how I compare with other people?+
Because we'd have to make it up. A comparison needs a group of people to compare you with, and we don't have a general-public group yet. What we can measure honestly, you get in full: how your six skills stack up against each other, and how your pattern reasoning compares with puzzles of known difficulty. The comparison with other people comes free once our group is big enough.
How long does it take?+
One thirty-minute clock covers all sixty questions, so you decide how to spend it.
Why six skills rather than one score?+
Because a single number hides what most people actually want to know. Two people can get the same number of questions right and think in completely different ways, one carried by logic, the other by picturing things in their head. Six skills show you which one you are, and that shape is what the report is built around.
Is it free?+
Yes. iqtested is a free beta: the test is free, and so is your full result, the moment you finish. It might become paid one day. If that ever happens, we'll tell you first, and nothing will be charged without you choosing it.
Do I need an account?+
Not to see your result. A free account, opened with a sign-in link sent to your email, keeps your results and adds your history, the library, Daily 5 practice, check-ins, compare and review. Delete it whenever you like and everything is erased for good.
Can I retake it?+
Yes, once every 30 days for a new score. Each check-in uses a different set of questions — we alternate between two matched sets. The six puzzles with a track record stay the same, so what we tell you about them stays true. Spacing check-ins out keeps the comparison fair. Look at the trend, not the jump.
Is my data sold or shared?+
No. Your answers and results are yours. We don't sell personal data to anyone, and you can delete your account and results for good at any time. Answers with names removed, pooled together, do help build the comparison group we're working on. That's how a fair comparison with other people eventually becomes possible.
Does a high score mean I am smart?+
It means you reasoned well across six specific skills in half an hour. That goes along with a lot of useful things and misses a lot of others, like judgement, creativity, persistence and kindness. Take your result seriously, but not too seriously.
